What is the Guardian Angel Program?

The Guardian Angel Program offers individuals, groups, and businesses the opportunity to prepay the adoption fee for one (or more!) of our cats or kittens available for adoption. Even if you don’t have the time or space to adopt, sponsoring a cat’s adoption fee helps bridge the gap between a homeless cat and their new family. Many adopters even choose to pay it forward by sponsoring another cat’s adoption fee after adopting a previously sponsored feline. Cats with prepaid adoption fees proudly display a Guardian Angel sticker with their sponsor’s name on their room door and in their online profile.

Giving Cats Away for Free? Ensuring Good Homes

The only difference between adopting a sponsored cat and a non-sponsored one is the fee. All potential adopters must still meet our adoption policy, complete a contract, and fulfill our requirements. We retain the right to decline any adoption application, even for a cat whose fee has been prepaid.

• Cats and Kittens: $90 adoption fee
• Senior Cats: $45 adoption fee

How to Become a Guardian Angel

1. Visit Our Shelter:
   
   • Come to our facility at 4600 Selvitz Rd, Fort Pierce during business hours.
   • Meet our wonderful felines and select the one you would like to sponsor. Let us know you’d like to become their Guardian Angel.
2. Sponsor at PetSmart:
   
   • Visit one of our PetSmart locations in Vero Beach or Port St. Lucie.
   • Choose a cat on display to sponsor. If a volunteer isn’t available, let the PetSmart staff know you’d like to pay a cat’s adoption fee, and they will gladly assist you.
3. Sponsor Online:
   
   • Browse the cats on our website and find one you’d like to sponsor.
   • Call our shelter at 772-489-5454 (select option 2 for cats) to pay the adoption fee over the phone. If we can’t answer immediately, leave a message, and we’ll return your call as soon as possible.
